As a megadiverse country situated right by the equator, Colombia has an incredible diversity of tropical mushroom species.
One of the most accessible places to find mushrooms in Colombia is in Medellin’s Parque Arví, which you can access from public transit through a gondola that takes you into the middle of this ecotourism park.
I had a chance to do a tropical mushroom tour there in the summer of 2021 and we found a rich diversity of mushrooms in the high alpine forests there.
